Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A broad trough over the western Kimberley extends to the western Pilbara as a
ridge over southeast WA moves east and builds over central Australia. The
trough will move east across the Pilbara, ahead of a strong cold front today. A
new ridge will build across the Gascoyne coast on Thursday and bring a
southerly wind change to the Pilbara.

Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A strong cold front is approaching from the Indian Ocean which is expected to
sweep through the South West Land Division today. A low pressure system is then
expected to pass close close to the south coast during this evening and
Thursday morning. A new ridge of high pressure will develop across the central
west and Gascoyne coasts on Thursday and slip gradually south on Friday and
Saturday.

Forecast for the rest of Wednesday 2 October
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Pilbara, Gascoyne, Goldfields,
southwest Kimberley and Interior. Widespread gusty showers and isolated
thunderstorms over western parts of the South West Land Division, extending
throughout during the afternoon. Small hail possible over southwestern parts of
the South West Land Division during the evening. Heavy falls possible over the
Interior, eastern Goldfields and Eucla. Cooler across the South West Land
Division. Windy south of the northern Kimberley, very windy about the southwest
coast. Surf conditions will be hazardous for coastal activities about the west
and southwest coasts.

Forecast for Thursday 3 October
Showers over the South West Land Division and southern Gascoyne. Showers and
chance of thunderstorms over the Goldfields, Eucla, eastern parts of South East
Coastal district and Interior. Cool over southern and central parts of the
state. Windy over southern parts of the state. Surf conditions will be
hazardous for coastal activities about the west and southwest coasts.

Forecast for Friday 4 October
Showers over the South West Land Division. Chance of an afternoon shower or
thunderstorm over the northern Kimberley.

Forecast for Saturday 5 October
Showers over the South West Land Division. Chance of an afternoon shower or
thunderstorm over the northern Kimberley.

The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Wednesday.
