Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
Ex-Tropical Cyclone Lincoln lies to the north-northwest of Exmouth and is
tracking towards the south. It is less likely to redevelop into a tropical
cyclone during today, but is still expected to threaten far western parts of
the Pilbara and Gascoyne coasts during today before it crosses over land
tonight. Elsewhere, a trough over the northern part of the Kimberley will drift
southward during the weekend.

Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A high pressure ridge lies to the south of the State and a high is moving into
the Bight. A trough near the west coast will move inland today. Ex-Tropical
Cyclone Lincoln is less likely to redevelop into a tropical cyclone today, but
is still expected to threaten the far western Pilbara and Gascoyne coasts today
before it crosses over land tonight. The weakening system is expected to
continue in a southeasterly direction, into the inland Gascoyne and adjacent
Central West district on Sunday. A new ridge will strengthen over southern
parts of the State from Sunday with a broad trough over the inland areas on
Monday.

Forecast for the rest of Saturday 24 February
Very strong winds, heavy rainfall and possible thunderstorms over the west
Pilbara and northwest Gascoyne associated with a possible tropical cyclone.
Possible showers and thunderstorms over the remaining Pilbara and Gascoyne,
Central West, Central Wheat Belt, Lower West, west-central Goldfields, northern
and eastern Great Southern and South East Coastal District. Isolated showers
and storms in the North Interior and Kimberley. Possible showers in the South
Coastal District.

Forecast for Sunday 25 February
Windy conditions, rain and gusty thunderstorms, with possible heavy falls over
the western and southern Gascoyne, northern and eastern Central West and
Central Wheat Belt. Isolated showers and thunderstorms over the inland Pilbara,
Kimberley, North Interior, and remainder of the Gascoyne. Showers and
thunderstorms possible through much of the South West Land Division, except for
the South West Capes which should be dry.

Forecast for Monday 26 February
Possible showers and thunderstorms in the Kimberley, Pilbara, Interior, inland
Gascoyne, inland South West Land Division and western Goldfields. Possible
showers about the remaining southern South West Land Division.

Forecast for Tuesday 27 February
Possible showers and thunderstorms in the Kimberley, central and eastern
Pilbara, Interior and far northeast Gascoyne, Possible showers over the
southern South West Land division.
