Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A broad area of low pressure lies over inland parts of the Kimberley and
Pilbara.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A strong ridge of high pressure has become established south of the state,
while a trough lies over the southwest interior. The trough will continue to
move east on Monday as a weak front brushes past the south coast, ahead of a
new ridge strengthening across the southwest coast. The ridge will continue to
strengthen south of the state with another trough developing down the west
coast by middle of the week.
Forecast for the rest of Monday 16 January
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Interior, Pilbara, central
and eastern Gascoyne, Goldfields, eastern parts of the South West Land Division
and Eucla. Thunderstorms possibly severe over the far southeast Gascoyne,
Goldfields, far eastern South West Land Division and western Eucla. Possible
light showers along the Albany coast. Hot to very hot over central and eastern
parts. Becoming windy about the Gascoyne, Central West, and Lower West coast.
Forecast for Tuesday 17 January
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Interior, Pilbara, eastern
Gascoyne, northeastern half of the Goldfields, and Eucla. Hot conditions over
central and eastern parts. Gusty south to southeasterly winds over the southern
half of the state.
Forecast for Wednesday 18 January
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Interior, Pilbara,
Gascoyne, far northern Goldfields, and northern Central West district. Hot to
very hot conditions over the west Gascoyne. Windy over southern and central
parts. Hot to very hot over the Gascoyne and northern Central West district.
Forecast for Thursday 19 January
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, Interior,
Gascoyne, northwest Goldfields and northern half of the South West Land
Division. Windy over southern and central parts. Hot to very hot over the
Gascoyne and northern Central West district.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Monday.
