Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A high pressure system lies over eastern Australia. A weak trough lies near the
Pilbara and west Kimberley coasts, pushing offshore during the mornings. The
trough will deepen over the inland Pilbara during Sunday then start to move
east.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A weak high pressure ridge is developing near the south coast. A cold front
will approach during Friday, moving across the South West Land Division during
Saturday and through areas southwest of a line from Exmouth to Eucla during
Sunday. A cold west southwesterly stream will develop in the wake of the front.
Forecast for the rest of Thursday 20 May
Mostly sunny throughout. Areas of morning fog over southern parts of the South
West Land Division.
Forecast for Friday 21 May
Showers developing near the south coast west of Albany by late morning and
extending through areas southwest of Mandurah to Albany during the afternoon
and evening.
Forecast for Saturday 22 May
Shower developing over western parts of the South West Land Division during the
morning. A band of more frequent showers with possible thunderstorms develop
about the SW Capes around sunrise, then extending north and east to reach a
line from Geraldton to Esperance by midnight.
Forecast for Sunday 23 May
Showers throughout the South West Land Division, easing over inland parts
during the morning. Thunderstorms possible southwest of a line from Bunbury to
Albany, extending north to Perth in the afternoon. A band of showers extending
through areas southwest of a line from Exmouth to Eucla during the day.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Thursday.
