Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A high in the Bight extends a ridge to the south and will continue to direct
easterly winds across northern WA. The ridge will weaken by Friday with winds
easing and a broad trough forms over the north of the state. A patchy cloud
band may bring very light rainfall to parts of the Kimberley and North Interior
till Friday.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A high pressure system in the Bight contracts away to the east ahead of a
moderate cold front approaching southwest WA later Thursday. The cold front
will move across the South West Land Division on Friday. A new high pressure
ridge will extend east over the mid west coast on Saturday.
Forecast for the rest of Wednesday 21 May
Light shower possible over the coastal and eastern Eucla. Cloud increasing with
chance of a light shower over the far southeast Kimberley.
Forecast for Thursday 22 May
Light shower developing southwest of a line Gingin to Albany during the day,
becoming frequent in the evening. Cloudy with the chance of a light shower over
the northern and eastern Kimberley, and adjacent northeast North Interior.
Chance of morning frost over the southeast South Interior.
Forecast for Friday 23 May
Showers over the South West Land Division, southern Gascoyne, southern
Goldfields, and western Eucla, more frequent over the Lower West, South West
and about the south coast west of Israelite Bay. Cloudy with the chance of a
light shower over the northern and eastern Kimberley. Cooler over the South
West Land Division.
Forecast for Saturday 24 May
Showers possible southwest of a line Lancelin to Albany, and east along the
south coast to Israelite Bay. Possible morning coastal shower between Lancelin
and Dirk Hartog Island. Morning frost possible over inland parts of the South
West Land Division and southwest Goldfields.
Forecast for Sunday 25 May
Showers over the South West Land Division, southern Goldfields, and southern
and western Eucla. Rain extending across the southwestern Kimberley,
northeastern Pilbara, and North Interior. Morning frost possible over the
Central Wheat Belt, far eastern Central West, southern Gascoyne, northern
Goldfields, and parts of the South Interior.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:45 am WST Thursday.
