Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A surface trough extends from the northwest Gascoyne, through the inland Pilbara and into the Kimberley. Tropical Cyclone Riley lies over waters well north of the western Pilbara coast. It is expected to track to the west southwest over the next few days, away from the WA mainland.

Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A ridge of high pressure lies to the south of the State. A surface trough near the west coast will deepen and start to move inland later on Monday. A weak front will brush the far southwest on Tuesday, with a new ridge of high pressure developing to the south of the state on Wednesday. Another surface trough will develop near the west coast on Thursday.

Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Pilbara, Kimberley, central and northern Interior and the northern Gascoyne.

Forecast for Monday 28 January
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Pilbara, Kimberley, central and northern Interior and the western and northern Gascoyne. Heavy falls possible in the Kimberley and inland Pilbara. Very hot over inland parts of the South West Land Division.

Forecast for Tuesday 29 January
Showers and thunderstorms in the Kimberley, Pilbara, Interior and the central and northern Gascoyne. Showers about the western south coast. Very hot over the Goldfields and northern parts of the South West Land Division.

Forecast for Wednesday 30 January
Showers and thunderstorms in the Kimberley, Pilbara, North Interior and northeast Gascoyne. Morning showers about the eastern south coast.

Forecast for Thursday 31 January
Showers and thunderstorms in the Kimberley, Pilbara, North Interior and northeast Gascoyne. Very hot over northern parts of the South West Land Division.

The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:45 am WST Monday.
