Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A ridge persists through inland parts, while a trough lies about the Pilbara
and the Kimberley coasts. The trough will move inland across the Pilbara on
Monday as a new ridge develops about the Gascoyne coast, before moving back to
the coast midweek once the ridge moves away.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A ridge across southern WA is moving east. A trough developing over the
Gascoyne will extend into the eastern South West Land Division during Monday
ahead of a strong cold front on Monday night. Following a brief ridge over
southern WA later Tuesday into Wednesday, a second moderate cold front will
move across the southwest on Thursday.
Forecast for the rest of Sunday 19 April
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over central and northern parts of the
Kimberley. Light showers possible about the southwest coast.
Forecast for Monday 20 April
Showers and thunderstorms in the northern Kimberley. Chance of a shower or
gusty thunderstorm over the southern and central Goldfields, eastern parts of
the South West Land Division and western Eucla. Showers about the Southwest
Capes, becoming frequent and spreading to south of a line Geraldton to Bremer
Bay in the late afternoon and evening with the chance of a gusty thunderstorm.
Damaging wind gusts possible with frontal passage in the evening about the
southwest coast. Chance of morning fog over the South Coastal, South East
Coastal and Great Southern districts. Windy south of the Kimberley.
Forecast for Tuesday 21 April
Isolated showers and thunderstorms over northern and western Kimberley. Showers
over the South West Land Division and Gascoyne coast, contracting to the south
coast by the afternoon. Chance of an early gusty thunderstorm with possible
damaging winds near the Lower West southern coast and south of a line Bunbury
to Bremer Bay. Chance of showers and gusty thunderstorms over the eastern parts
of the South East Coastal district, Goldfields, Eucla and adjacent South
Interior. Windy over southern WA, western Gascoyne and southwest Pilbara.
Forecast for Wednesday 22 April
Isolated showers and thunderstorms across the northern Kimberley. Chance of a
shower and thunderstorm about the South West Capes in the afternoon and
evening. Becoming windy about the southwest coast.
Forecast for Thursday 23 April
Isolated showers and thunderstorms across the northern Kimberley. Chance of a
shower about the Gascoyne northwest coast and Pilbara west coast. Showers and
possible thunderstorms over the South West Land Division, southern Gascoyne,
southern and central Goldfields and western Eucla. Windy over southern WA.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 1:45 am WST Monday.
