Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
Severe Tropical Cyclone Narelle is tracking south over the far west Gascoyne,
with winds gradually easing over the western Pilbara this afternoon and
evening. A trough will linger over the east Pilbara this weekend and early next
week whilst a ridge extends into the east Kimberley.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
Severe Tropical Cyclone Narelle is tracking south over the far west Gascoyne
whilst a ridge lays over southeastern parts. On Saturday, Narelle will weaken
into a subtropical low as it quickly moves south-southeast over the Central
West and then further inland and south across the South West Land Division. A
cold front will then pass southern WA later Monday into Tuesday, with a ridge
building over the Central West in its wake.
Forecast for the rest of Friday 27 March
Very windy, rain, gusty thunderstorms and heavy falls over the western Gascoyne
and far west Pilbara. Showers and gusty thunderstorms also over the north and
west Kimberley, remaining Pilbara, remaining Gascoyne, and most parts of the
South West Land Division, with heavy falls possible over the central Gascoyne
and western parts of the South West Land Division. Windy over remaining parts
south of the Kimberley.
Forecast for Saturday 28 March
Very windy, rain, gusty thunderstorms and heavy falls possible over the western
Gascoyne, and much of the South West Land Division, away from the far
southwest. Showers and gusty thunderstorms also over the western Kimberley,
Pilbara, remaining Gascoyne, Goldfields, western Interior, western Eucla and
remaining parts of the South West Land Division. Windy over remaining central
and southern parts of the state.
Forecast for Sunday 29 March
Showers and possible thunderstorms over the far west Kimberley, most parts of
the Pilbara, inland Gascoyne, tending gusty over northern and eastern parts of
the South West Land Division, Goldfields, South Interior and Eucla. Showers
over the remainder of the South West Land Division. Windy about central
southern parts and the Eucla, easing early morning.
Forecast for Monday 30 March
Showers and thunderstorms over the far southwest Kimberley, east Pilbara, west
and south Interior, east Goldfields, Eucla, and eastern South East Coastal.
Showers over remaining parts of the South West Land Division.
Forecast for Tuesday 31 March
Showers and thunderstorms over the South Interior and east Eucla. Showers
possible over much of the South West Land Division, east Pilbara, and far west
Kimberley. Windy at times along the south coast.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 1:45 am WST Saturday.
