Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A broad area of low pressure persists across the northern Kimberley while a
weak ridge extends through inland areas. Tropical Low 30U is currently off the
Pilbara coast and will continue moving westwards further into the Indian Ocean
for the remainder of the week. Tropical Low 28U is currently well off the
Pilbara coast, and is expected to dissipate as it approaches the Dampier
Peninsula.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A ridge of high pressure lies slow moving over southern and central parts of
the state, while a deep trough extends down near the west coast. The trough is
expected to move inland over the weekend, ahead of a weak cold front moving
through the Bight.
Forecast for the rest of Thursday 5 March
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, western Interior and
northern Gascoyne. Moderate falls in the northern Kimberley. Very warm through
the northern and inland South West Land Division, Gascoyne and Pilbara. Windy
across the Pilbara, especially near coastal parts.
Forecast for Friday 6 March
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, North Interior and
northern and western Gascoyne, possibly extending into the Central West during
the afternoon. Moderate to heavy falls possible in the northeast Kimberley.
Very hot through the inland Pilbara, Gascoyne, northern and central South West
Land Division and Goldfields. Windy at times over the Pilbara, Gascoyne and
Central West, and in the morning across the Darling Scarp. Possible early fog
over inland parts of the South East Coastal District.
Forecast for Saturday 7 March
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, northern Interior, Pilbara and
western Gascoyne. Chance of showers and thunderstorm over much of the remaining
Gascoyne, Central West, northern Lower west and far western parts of Central
Wheat Belt districts. Chance of a light morning shower about coastal parts
between Denmark and Hopetoun. Very hot over much of the South West Land
Division away from the south coast. Windy at times over central and eastern
parts.
Forecast for Sunday 8 March
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley and adjacent North Interior.
Chance of showers and thunderstorms northern and western parts of the Pilbara
and Gascoyne, as well as the inland Central West and adjacent Central Wheat
Belt. Chance of a light morning shower over the Lower West and Great Southern,
and about the south coast west of Bremer Bay during the afternoon. Very hot
over the Pilbara, Gascoyne, Goldfields and most of the South West Land
Division, but tending milder through the South West and Lower West.
Forecast for Monday 9 March
Showers and thunderstorms in the Kimberley, most widespread over northern
parts. Chance of showers and thunderstorms over the north and west Pilbara and
western Gascoyne. Chance of showers south of a line from Bunbury to Israelite
Bay. Very hot through the inland northern and eastern South West Land Division,
Eucla, Goldfields, inland Gascoyne, Pilbara and Interior. Tending milder about
coastal parts from Bremer Bay to Israelite Bay.
