Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A tropical low over the Interior is slowly moving south and is expected to
weaken during the weekend. Meanwhile, a trough extends across the Pilbara and
Interior. A southeasterly wind change will push the trough into the Kimberley
from the Interior next week.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A weak cold front is moving east across the Bight as a ridge builds over the
southwest of the state. The ridge will expand over southern WA during the
weekend, pushing a weak trough over the South West Land Division into the
Gascoyne. The trough will move to the west coast on Monday and deepen during
next week.
Forecast for the rest of Friday 20 February
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Interior, central and
eastern Pilbara, northeast Gascoyne, eastern Goldfields and eastern Eucla.
Light shower possible over remainder of the southern coastal districts. Heavy
falls possible over the far eastern Pilbara, western Interior and eastern
Eucla. Very hot through the southwest Pilbara, western Gascoyne, inland parts
of Central West and northern inland parts of Lower West.
Forecast for Saturday 21 February
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Interior, central and
eastern Pilbara, northeast Gascoyne, eastern Goldfields, and eastern Eucla.
Possible showers or drizzle over south coastal districts and southwest
Goldfields. Heavy falls possible over the southern and central Interior, and
eastern Eucla. Very hot through the western Pilbara and northwest Gascoyne.
Cooler over the southern districts of the South West Land Division, eastern
Eucla and western parts of Interior. Windy through Eucla and adjacent southern
Interior.
Forecast for Sunday 22 February
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Interior, central and
eastern Pilbara, northeast Gascoyne, far eastern parts of Goldfields and
eastern Eucla. Possible showers or drizzle along the south coastal districts
and remainder of the Goldfields. Heavy falls possible over the central and
southern Interior, and far eastern Eucla. Very hot through western Pilbara and
western Gascoyne. Cool over the southern districts of the South West Land
Division, Eucla and southern Interior. Windy across central and southeastern
parts of the state.
Forecast for Monday 23 February
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, central and northern
Interior, Pilbara, and northern Gascoyne. Chance of a shower or thunderstorm
with little or rainfall over southern Gascoyne and northern parts of Central
West. Very hot through the southwest Pilbara, western Gascoyne and northern
inland parts of Central West. Cool over eastern Eucla, South Interior and far
eastern parts of the Goldfields. Windy in the morning through central and
southwestern parts of the state.
Forecast for Tuesday 24 February
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, central and northern
Interior, Pilbara, and northern Gascoyne. Chance of a shower or thunderstorm
with little or rainfall over southern Gascoyne, Central West and northern parts
of central Wheat Belt. Very hot through western Gascoyne, inland parts of
Central West and northern inland parts of Lower West. Cool over eastern Eucla
and southern Interior. Windy in the morning through central and southwest parts
of the state, and across Eucla and southern Interior in the afternoon and
evening.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 1:45 am WST Saturday.
