Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
Tropical Cyclone Mitchell is located near Carnarvon and is forecast to continue
moving south along the Gascoyne coast during the rest of the day. It is
expected to weaken below cyclone strength on Tuesday as it moves over land
through the southern Gascoyne. A trough of low pressure will push into the
Pilbara from Thursday.

Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A west coast trough is moving inland as a new ridge develops over the southwest
from Tuesday. Tropical Cyclone Mitchell is expected to move south, close to the
Gascoyne coast for the rest of today, before turning southeast and weakening to
a Tropical low over the inland southern Gascoyne early Tuesday. It is expected
to dissipate over the northern Goldfields on Wednesday as the ridge pushes into
central parts of the State.

Forecast for the rest of Monday 9 February
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, northern and
central Interior, northern Goldfields, Gascoyne and northern parts of the South
West Land Division. Heavy rainfall likely in the vicinity of Tropical Cyclone
Mitchell over the western Gascoyne. Heavy falls possibly extending through the
southern southwestern Gascoyne into the northern Central West and Central Wheat
Belt in the evening. Chance of a shower or thunderstorm with little or no
rainfall over central and southern parts of the South West Land Division. Very
windy over the western Gascoyne. Windy over the remainder of the Gascoyne,
central Pilbara, and the inland South West Land Division.

Forecast for Tuesday 10 February
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, east and west Pilbara,
Interior, Gascoyne, Goldfields, west Eucla, and northern and eastern parts of
the South West Land Division. Moderate to heavy falls possible over the
Gascoyne, Goldfields, parts of the Interior, and the northern and eastern South
West Land Division. Chance of a shower over remaining parts of the South West
Land Division, with areas over the southern Gascoyne, Central Wheat Belt, and
southwest Goldfields. Windy over the Gascoyne, Goldfields, South West Land
Division, and Eucla.

Forecast for Wednesday 11 February
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, eastern Pilbara, Interior,
southeast Gascoyne, Goldfields, northeastern parts of the Central Wheat Belt
and the Eucla. Heavy falls possible in the Interior. Chance of a shower over
remaining parts of the State. Windy over southern parts of the State.

Forecast for Thursday 12 February
Showers and gusty thunderstorms possible over the Kimberley, east Pilbara, and
northern and central Interior. Showers possible over the remainder of the
Interior, southeast Gascoyne, Goldfields, Eucla, South East Coastal, South
Coastal, southeast Great Southern, and northeast Central Wheat Belt. Windy at
times over the Eucla.

Forecast for Friday 13 February
Showers and gusty thunderstorms possible over the Kimberley, Pilbara, central
and northern Gascoyne, and northern and central Interior. Showers possible over
the remainder of the eastern Interior, Eucla and south coast east of Albany.
Windy at times over parts of the Interior, Gascoyne and northern Goldfields.

The next routine forecast will be issued at 1:45 am WST Tuesday.
