Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
Severe Tropical Cyclone Mitchell is currently offshore of the west Pilbara and
and is moving southwest. It is expected to move close to Exmouth overnight
Sunday and then Coral Bay Monday morning.

Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A west coast trough is deepening while a ridge persists south of the State. The
trough moves inland on Monday. A new ridge will begin to develop to the
southwest from Tuesday. Severe Tropical Cyclone Mitchell is expected to move
south, close to the Gascoyne coast during Monday, before turning southeast and
weakening to a Tropical low over the inland southern Gascoyne by Tuesday. It is
expected to dissipate over the northern Goldfields on Wednesday.

Forecast for the rest of Sunday 8 February
Severe Tropical Cyclone Mitchell may cross the west Pilbara coast in the
evening or early Monday morning. Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the
Kimberley, Pilbara, northern and central Interior, northern Goldfields, and
northern Gascoyne. Heavy rainfall through the western Pilbara and northwest
Gascoyne. Locally intense falls possible in the vicinity of Severe Tropical
Cyclone Mitchell. Chance of a shower or thunderstorm with little or no rainfall
over the southern Gascoyne and far northern parts of the South West Land
Division. Very hot over northern parts of the South West Land Division. Very
windy over the west Pilbara coast. Windy across the inland Pilbara, Gascoyne,
Eucla, and southern and western parts of the South West Land Division.

Forecast for Monday 9 February
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, northern and
central Interior, northern Goldfields, Gascoyne and northern parts of the South
West Land Division. Heavy rainfall likely in the vicinity of Tropical Cyclone
Mitchell over the western Pilbara and western Gascoyne. Heavy falls possibly
extending through the Gascoyne into the Central Wheat Belt and Great Southern
in the evening. Chance of a shower or thunderstorm with little or no rainfall
over central and southern parts of the South West Land Division. Very hot over
the inland South West Land Division. Very windy over the western Pilbara and
Gascoyne. Windy over the remainder of the Gascoyne, central Pilbara, and the
inland South West Land Division.

Forecast for Tuesday 10 February
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, east Pilbara, Interior,
Gascoyne, Goldfields, west Eucla, and northern, central, and eastern parts of
the South West Land Division. Moderate to heavy falls possible over the
Gascoyne, Goldfields, parts of the Interior, and the northern and northeastern
South West Land Division. Chance of a shower over remaining parts of the South
West Land Division, with areas of rain possible in the South East Coastal
district. Windy over the Gascoyne, Goldfields, South West Land Division, and
Eucla.

Forecast for Wednesday 11 February
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, eastern Pilbara, Interior,
southeast Gascoyne, Goldfields, northeastern parts of the Central Wheat Belt
and South East Coastal districts, and the Eucla. Heavy falls possible in the
Interior. Chance of a shower over remaining parts of the State. Windy over
southern parts of the State.

Forecast for Thursday 12 February
Showers and gusty thunderstorms possible over the Kimberley, east Pilbara, and
northern and central Interior. Showers possible over the remainder of the
Interior, southeast Gascoyne, Goldfields, Eucla, South East Coastal, South
Coastal, southeast Great Southern, and northeast Central Wheat Belt. Windy at
times over the Eucla.

The next routine forecast will be issued at 1:45 am WST Monday.
