Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A broad trough lies over northern parts of the state and will persist into next
week. A tropical low is forming over the western Top End in the Northern
Territory this weekend, forecast to move into the Timor Sea to the north of the
Kimberley early next week.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A trough continues moving east through central districts and along the south
coast. A new ridge will develop about southwest WA in its wake, spanning along
the south coast by Monday. A west coast trough will develop from Monday,
remaining about the coast through to Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of Saturday 17 January
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, northern Interior, Pilbara,
inland Gascoyne, Goldfields, western Eucla, and east, northeast, and southern
parts of the South West Land Division. Showers possible southwest of Busselton
to Bremer Bay. Windy at times over the Goldfields and Eucla.
Forecast for Sunday 18 January
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, northern Interior, Pilbara
and north Gascoyne. Very hot over the southern and eastern Kimberley, Interior,
Pilbara, Gascoyne, northern Goldfields and northern inland parts of the Central
West. Windy at times over the southern Interior, southern Goldfields, Eucla and
western Gascoyne.
Forecast for Monday 19 January
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, northwest
Interior, and far northern Gascoyne, with possible heavy rainfall in the north
Kimberley. Very hot over the southern Kimberley, northern Interior, Pilbara,
Gascoyne, far northern Goldfields, inland parts of the Central West and
northern parts of the Lower West. Windy at times over the Interior, eastern
Goldfields, and Eucla. Increased chance of tropical cyclone activity north of
the State.
Forecast for Tuesday 20 January
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, northern and western
Pilbara, and the far northern Gascoyne, with possible heavy rainfall in the
north Kimberley. Very hot over the southern Kimberley, northern Interior,
Pilbara, Gascoyne and northern and western parts of the South West Land
Division. Windy at times over central parts of the State and the southeast
Pilbara. Increased chance of tropical cyclone activity north of the State.
Forecast for Wednesday 21 January
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, western and northeastern
Pilbara, and far northern Interior, with possible heavy rainfall over the
northern Kimberley. Very hot over the southern Kimberley, Pilbara, west
Gascoyne, and northern and western parts of the South West Land Division.Windy
at times over the Eucla and central parts of the State. Increased chance of
tropical cyclone activity north of the State.
