Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
Severe Tropical Cyclone Hayley is located offshore to the northwest of the
Dampier Peninsula, moving east towards the western Kimberley coast today. It is
forecast to cross the coast late Tuesday or into Wednesday. A trough near the
Kimberley and Pilbara coasts persists until Thursday, when the southern extent
begins to move inland.

Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A ridge sits along the south coast, driving a easterly airstream over southern
and central parts. A trough developing down the west coast moves into inland
western parts Thursday or Friday.

Forecast for the rest of Tuesday 30 December
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, northern Gascoyne,
Interior and eastern Eucla. Very hot through the Pilbara, northwest Gascoyne
and northern Interior. Windy over most of central and southern WA. Very windy
with heavy rainfall along the west Kimberley coast, associated with Severe
Tropical Cyclone Hayley.

Forecast for Wednesday 31 December
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, most of the Pilbara,
western Gascoyne, Interior. and northern Central West. Very hot through the
Pilbara and northwest Gascoyne. Windy at times over western and central parts
of the State. Windy with heavy rainfall over the west Kimberley, easing during
the day.

Forecast for Thursday 1 January
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne, northern
and western Goldfields, Interior and Central Wheat Belt and northeast Central
West. Chance of a thunderstorm over the far southwest inland parts of the South
West Land Division. Very hot over the Pilbara, Gascoyne and inland northern
South West Land Division.

Forecast for Friday 2 January
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, eastern Gascoyne,
Goldfields, Interior, Eucla and the eastern South West Land Division. Very hot
over the Pilbara, Gascoyne and inland northern South West Land Division.

Forecast for Saturday 3 January
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, northeast
Gascoyne, Goldfields, Interior, inland Eucla and the far eastern inland South
West Land Division. Very hot over the Pilbara, Gascoyne, Goldfields and inland
northern South West Land Division.
