Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
Severe Tropical Cyclone Fina located close to the Top End west coast in the
Northern Territory is moving west southwest and will be located to the north of
the Kimberley on Sunday night. The cyclone is likely to track west on Monday,
parallel to the north Kimberley coast whilst staying offshore. A broad trough
remains through the Pilbara and North Interior.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A trough near the west coast is moving inland ahead of a cold front approaching
from west. The front weakens inland on Sunday, followed by a series of weak
troughs along the south coast associated with a couple of low pressure systems
moving through the Bight. A high pressure ridge will build about the southwest
coast later Sunday and extend over southern WA on Monday.
Forecast for the rest of Saturday 22 November
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over South West Land Division and southwestern
Goldfields. Light showers over the Eucla. Chance of a shower or thunderstorms
with little or no rainfall over northeastern parts of North Interior and
Kimberley.
Forecast for Sunday 23 November
Showers and thunderstorms over southern parts of the South West Land Division,
southern Goldfields and Eucla. Showers over the northern parts of the South
West Land Division and adjacent southern Gascoyne. Chance of a shower or
thunderstorm with little or no rainfall over the Kimberley and eastern
Interior. Showers and thunderstorms becoming frequent over northeast Kimberley
in the evening. Very hot through the Kimberley and northern Interior.
Forecast for Monday 24 November
Very windy and heavy rainfall possible over far northern parts of the
Kimberley, dependant on movement of Tropical Cyclone Fina. Chance of showers
and thunderstorms over the remainder of the Kimberley and northeast Interior
with little or no rainfall. Showers southwest of a line Geraldton to Hyden to
Israelite Bay. Chance of morning fog over eastern Eucla. Very hot through the
Kimberley and northern Interior.
Forecast for Tuesday 25 November
Very windy and heavy rainfall possible over far northern parts of the
Kimberley, dependant on movement of Tropical Cyclone Fina. Chance of showers
and thunderstorm over the remainder of the Kimberley and eastern Interior.
Light showers over southern and western parts of the South West Land Division
and southern Eucla. Very hot through the western Kimberley and northern
Interior.
Forecast for Wednesday 26 November
Very windy and heavy rainfall possible over far northwestern parts of the
Kimberley, dependant on movement of Tropical Cyclone Fina. Chance of showers
and thunderstorms over the remainder Kimberley, northern Interior, far eastern
Pilbara and far northeast Gascoyne. Light showers over southern coastal
districts. Very hot through the southwest Kimberley and northern Interior.
