Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A high pressure ridge to the south is directing a southeasterly surge through
the Pilbara and is pushing a trough over inland areas closer to the coast.
Meanwhile, a broad area of low pressure continues to persist over the Kimberley.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A strong high pressure system is moving into the Bight and will move further
east over the next couple of days. A west coast trough will deepen on Monday
and will move inland on Tuesday, ahead of a weak cold front passing to the
south of the state. A new ridge will develop along the southwest coast on
Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of Sunday 16 March
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, northern Interior, Pilbara
and adjacent Gascoyne. Light showers over southern districts and over far
southeast Goldfields.
Forecast for Monday 17 March
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over northern and western parts of the
Kimberley, northern and western Pilbara, northwest Gascoyne, eastern and
northern parts of the Interior. Light morning showers over the South East
Coastal district, southern Goldfields and Eucla. Very hot through southern
Kimberley, North Interior, northwest Gascoyne, western and northern Pilbara.
Windy over the Pilbara, Interior, Gascoyne, northern Goldfields, Eucla,
northern and western parts of the South West Land Division.
Forecast for Tuesday 18 March
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, northern Gascoyne,
Interior and adjacent Goldfields. Very hot through northwest Gascoyne and
western Pilbara. Windy in the morning in the northern Interior.
Forecast for Wednesday 19 March
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, northeast Gascoyne and
Interior. Showers over the southern districts. and southern Goldfields.
Forecast for Thursday 20 March
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, northeast Gascoyne,
Interior and northern Goldfields. Light showers over the Goldfields, Eucla and
South East Coastal district.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:45 am WST Monday.
