Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A broad low pressure trough persists over northern WA.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A high pressure system is becoming established in the Bight with a surface
trough developing just inland from the west coast. The trough will deepen today
before moving inland later in the day, continuing to move over the South West
Land Division and Goldfields on Monday, and Eucla on Tuesday. A weak cold front
moves over the far southwest coast behind the trough on Monday evening and
along the south coast Tuesday morning. A new high pressure ridge will then
extend south of the State in the wake of the cold front Tuesday and Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of Sunday 2 March
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the north and west Kimberley, north and
west Pilbara, inland Gascoyne, far west Interior, far northern Goldfields,
inland northern Central West and northeastern Central Wheat Belt districts.
Very hot over the southern Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne, northern and central
Interior, northern Goldfields and inland northern parts of the South West Land
Division. Windy over central eastern parts in the morning.
Forecast for Monday 3 March
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, north and west Pilbara,
inland Gascoyne, most parts of the Goldfields, central and eastern South East
Coastal district and far west Eucla. Showers developing about the South West
Capes in the evening. Chance of morning fog over western and southern parts of
the South West Land Division. Very hot over the southern Kimberley, Pilbara,
Gascoyne, northern and central Interior, Goldfields, eastern and inland
northern parts of the South West Land Division. Windy over central and
southeastern parts in the morning.
Forecast for Tuesday 4 March
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, northeast
Gascoyne, northeast Goldfields and far north and west Interior. Showers, mostly
morning over southern parts of the South West Land Division. Possible showers
developing about the western Eucla in the afternoon. Chance of morning fog over
the inland central western parts of the South West Land Division. Very hot over
the north and east of the State, milder about the southwest. Fresh southerly
change extending over southeastern parts in the afternoon and evening.
Forecast for Wednesday 5 March
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, and north and west Pilbara.
Possible light showers about the far eastern South East Coastal district and
Eucla. Very hot over northern parts of the State. Windy over central and
southern parts.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Sunday.
