Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A broad low pressure trough will remain over northern WA during the next few
days. A Tropical Low may form near the North Kimberley coast over the weekend
and move southwest.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A trough extends through the inland Gascoyne and Central Wheat Belt while a
ridge is evident over the southern part of the State. The trough will deepen
back into the South West during Saturday before moving eastward during Sunday
and Monday. A ridge will strengthen into the western part of the State in the
wake of the trough. A weak cold front will brush the far southwest corner of
the State on Tuesday.
Forecast for the rest of Saturday 8 February
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley and central and east Pilbara
coast. Slight chance of an evening shower or thunderstorm about the far
southwest coast. Remaining very hot over most of the State, apart from the
northern Kimberley and locations near the west coast. Tending hotter about the
inland South West, Great Southern, South Coastal District and South East
Coastal District.
Forecast for Sunday 9 February
Chance of showers west of a line from Jurien Bay to Northam. Possible showers
and thunderstorms in the South West, South Coastal District, South East Coastal
District, most of the Goldfields, and far eastern parts of the Wheat Belt.
Showers and gusty thunderstorms in the Kimberley and inland from the
east-central Pilbara coast, most widespread in the northern Kimberley with
moderate to heavy falls possible. Very hot conditions persist from the Pilbara
through the inland Gascoyne, eastern South West Land Division, Goldfields,
Interior and Eucla. Milder about the western part of the South West Land
Division.
Forecast for Monday 10 February
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, east-central Pilbara and
northern and western Interior, most likely widespread in the north and west
Kimberley, with moderate to heavy falls possible. Chance of showers southwest
of a line from Lancelin to Albany. Very hot over the Pilbara, inland Gascoyne,
Goldfields and Eucla. Milder over the South East Coastal District.
Forecast for Tuesday 11 February
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, central and eastern
Pilbara, northeast Gascoyne, Interior, north and east Goldfields and far
northern Eucla. Showers most likely widespread in the north and west Kimberley
and possibly the east Pilbara, with moderate to heavy falls possible. Possible
showers southwest of alone from Geraldton to Northam to Salmon Gums, more
likely from Perth to Albany. Very hot over the Pilbara, most of the inland
Gascoyne, Goldfields and Eucla.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Saturday.
