Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A trough extends from inland Kimberley to the Pilbara coast, while a dry and
fresh easterly flow extends across inland areas. The easterly flow will weaken
from Monday, allowing the trough to move to inland Pilbara and the Interior by
Tuesday.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A firm ridge is located in the Bight, while a deep trough remains slow moving
near the west coast. The trough will move inland later Monday as the ridge
weakens, ahead of a weak cold front. The front will brush past the south coast
early Tuesday and will be followed by a strengthening ridge from the Indian
Ocean.
Forecast for the rest of Sunday 22 December
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the northern and eastern Kimberley. Chance
of an afternoon gusty thunderstorm with little to no rainfall over southwest
Pilbara and and northwest Gascoyne. Windy through central and southwestern
parts of the state. Very hot over Central West, Central Wheat Belt, Lower West,
northern parts of South West, northwestern parts of Great Southern, far
northern Goldfields, Gascoyne, Pilbara, Kimberley and northern Interior.
Forecast for Monday 23 December
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley. Chance of an afternoon
gusty thunderstorm with little to no rainfall over the inland Central West,
western Gascoyne, far southwest Pilbara, northeast Lower West, western parts of
the Central Wheat Belt and northwest Great Southern. Windy through central and
southwestern parts of the state. Very hot over most parts of the South West
Land Division, far northern Goldfields, Gascoyne, Pilbara, Kimberley and
northern Interior.
Forecast for Tuesday 24 December
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, adjacent northeast Pilbara,
and northern parts of North Interior. Chance of an afternoon gusty thunderstorm
with little to no rainfall over the inland Central West, western and southern
Gascoyne, far southwest Pilbara, Central Wheat Belt, southwest Goldfields and
eastern parts of the Great Southern. Showers over southern parts of the South
West Land Division. Becoming cooler across the southwest of the State,
remaining very hot elsewhere.
Forecast for Wednesday 25 December
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, northern and eastern
Pilbara, and northern parts of the Interior. Showers over southern and western
parts of the South West Land Division, Eucla and Goldfields. Chance of a
thunderstorm over southern Goldfields. Cooler over the South West Land
Division, southern Goldfields and southern Gascoyne, remaining hot to very hot
elsewhere.
