Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A weak trough extends from the inland Kimberley into the east Pilbara, whilst a
high pressure ridge to the south brings south to southwesterly winds to the
western Pilbara waters. The high pressure ridge will move south today with the
south to southwesterly winds easing and the trough extending into the western
Pilbara.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A ridge is developing over southern WA with a high pressure centre forming near
the Eucla coast. A deepening trough will form over central parts of the state
over the weekend as the high pressure centre moves east. The trough will move
east ahead of a cold front moving over the southwest of the state later Sunday
into Monday. A new ridge will develop in the wake of the cold front.
Forecast for the rest of Friday 18 October
Light showers southwest of a line from Mandurah to Katanning to Albany. Chance
of an afternoon shower or thunderstorm over the northern and eastern Kimberley.
Possible morning fog over the South East Coastal district, eastern parts of the
Great Southern and
Forecast for Saturday 19 October
Light showers south of a line from Perth to Katanning to Albany. Chance of an
afternoon shower or thunderstorm over the northern and eastern Kimberley.
Possible morning fog over the Central West and adjacent Central Wheat Belt
districts. Temperatures warming through the Gascoyne, and inland northern and
eastern parts of the South West Land Division and Goldfields.
Forecast for Sunday 20 October
Showers southwest of a line Perth to Albany, extending to southwest of Shark
Bay to Bremer Bay during the afternoon and evening. Chance of an afternoon
shower or thunderstorm over the northern and eastern Kimberley and east
Interior. Very hot in the west Kimberley. Temperatures continuing to warm over
southern parts of the state. Windy at times over most parts of the state.
Forecast for Monday 21 October
Showers over western and southern parts of the South West Land Division,
contracting to the South West district in the afternoon. Windy at times over
most parts of the state.
