Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A weak trough extends from the Kimberley to the northern Interior, whilst a
high pressure ridge to the south brings south to southwesterly winds to the
western Pilbara.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A high in the Bight rapidly contracts away to the east to day. A substantial
cold front will move across the South West Land Division during today, bringing
rain and windy conditions to much of southern WA. A new ridge will extend over
southern WA in the wake of the front on Thursday. Another weak cold front will
brush the southwest coast on Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of Wednesday 16 October
Morning fog patches over northeast parts of the Pilbara and adjacent Kimberly.
Showers increasing over the South West Land Division, southern and western
Gascoyne, Goldfields, southern Interior, and Eucla. Showers may be gusty.
Chance of a gusty thunderstorm over the southern Goldfields, across much of the
South West Land Division, and Eucla. Heavy falls possible through the Central
West and South East Coastal and adjacent Goldfields districts. Chance of an
afternoon shower or thunderstorm over the northern Kimberley. Becoming windy
over most of the State, very windy through western parts of the Interior. Very
hot through the southern Kimberley.
Forecast for Thursday 17 October
Showers over the South West Land Division, Goldfields, southern Gascoyne,
Eucla, southern and eastern Interior. Chance of a gusty thunderstorm over
southern Goldfields, South East Coastal and Eucla. Chance of an afternoon
shower or thunderstorm over the northern and eastern Kimberley. Windy at times
over southern and central parts of the state.
Forecast for Friday 18 October
Light showers southwest of a line from Fremantle to Katanning to Albany and
along the coast east of Esperance. Chance of an afternoon shower or
thunderstorm over the northern and eastern Kimberley.
Forecast for Saturday 19 October
Light showers south of a line from Yanchep to Bremer Bay. Chance of an
afternoon shower or thunderstorm over the northern and eastern Kimberley. Very
hot through the Kimberley.
