Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A weak trough lies over the Kimberley and extends west along the Pilbara coast.
A cold front will move over southern and central WA on Saturday before a ridge
extends across the southern Pilbara and Gascoyne on Sunday.

Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A cold front will cross the southwest corner of the State today and move
further inland during the course of the day. A low pressure system will form
near the south coast overnight tonight and tomorrow, maintaining a vigorous
westerly flow across the southern half. The low will weaken and move away to
the east on Monday with another high pressure ridge extending over the central
west coast.

Forecast for the rest of Saturday 17 August
Showers southwest of a line Denham to Albany, extending to southwest of a line
Exmouth to Eyre by evening. Areas of rain and gusty thunderstorms near the west
coast, south of Geraldton, with heavy falls possible. Gusty thunderstorms also
possible over the southern Gascoyne, Central West and Central Wheatbelt. Windy
over southern and central parts of the State. Surf conditions will be hazardous
for coastal activities and tides are also higher than normal for parts of the
west coast.

Forecast for Sunday 18 August
Showers south of a line Denham to Meekatharra to Eucla, contracting to southern
coastal districts during the evening. Light morning showers also for the west
Pilbara coast. Possible thunderstorms about coastal parts between Lancelin and
Israelite Bay. Very windy over southern districts. Surf conditions will be
hazardous for coastal activities and tides are also higher than normal along
the south and lower west coasts.

Forecast for Monday 19 August
Showers over the South West Land Division, southern Goldfields and southern
Eucla. Windy over southern districts, easing during the day.

Forecast for Tuesday 20 August
Showers about the south coast and west coast, south of Geraldton, extending to
all but far eastern parts of the South West Land Division during the day.

The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Saturday.
