Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A high pressure system over central WA extends a weak ridge into northern parts
of the State. The ridge will weaken by midweek as an active pattern of cold
fronts crosses southern WA. Another ridge will build into central WA on
Thursday while a weak trough lies near coastal parts of the Kimberley and east
Pilbara.

Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A cold front is moving over the south coast and will contract away into the
Bight early Tuesday. A pair of fast-moving cold fronts will move over the lower
west coast and southern WA during Tuesday night and Wednesday, followed by a
high pressure ridge passing through central parts of the State on Thursday.

Forecast for the rest of Tuesday 13 August
Possible showers southwest of a line from Shark Bay to Esperance, most likely
about the Lower West, South West and western parts of the Great Southern and
South Coastal District. Showers increasing in the afternoon in the South West,
and in the evening about the Lower West, with the chance of a thunderstorm
developing about coastal parts from Fremantle to Bremer Bay. Slight chance of
showers, mainly in the afternoon, over the northern and eastern Goldfields and
southern and western South Interior. Showers and the chance of a thunderstorm
contracting out of the eastern Eucla in the morning. Areas of fog in the
morning over the inland Central West, Central Wheat Belt and northern Great
Southern.

Forecast for Wednesday 14 August
Showers south of a line from Shark Bay to Leonora to the southern South
Interior, most widespread about the Lower West, South West, Great Southern and
South Coastal District. Chance of a thunderstorm about the west coast to the
south of Mandurah, as well as the South Coastal District, eastern Great
Southern, far southern Goldfields, South East Coastal District, and southern
and eastern parts of the Eucla. Chance of a thunderstorm about coastal parts of
the Lower West, South West, and South Coastal. Areas of early fog over the
inland Gascoyne.

Forecast for Thursday 15 August
Showers over the South West Land Division, north-central Goldfields, Eucla and
southern Gascoyne, contracting to the South Coastal and South East Coastal
District as well as coastal parts of the Eucla by the afternoon. Chance of a
thunderstorm near the coast in the South East Coastal District.

Forecast for Friday 16 August
Possible early fog over inland parts of the southern Central West, Lower West,
South West, and South Coastal District, as well as the Great Southern and
western Wheat Belt. Showers about the lower west coast increasing early in the
day, and likely extending through the South West Land Division and southwestern
Goldfields by day’s end. Possible morning showers about coastal parts in the
South East Coastal District and Eucla.
