Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A high pressure ridge to the southeast is directing easterly winds over the
area and pushing the surface trough towards the Kimberley and Pilbara coasts. A
new high pressure ridge developing over southern WA will bring fresh and gusty
southerly winds to western Pilbara. The surface trough will move inland again
over the weekend as the ridges weaken and move east.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A firm ridge of high pressure extends over southeastern WA with a deep surface
trough along the west coast. The trough will move inland ahead of a weak cold
front brushing the southwest corner on Thursday, followed by a new ridge
extending across the southwest coast. The new ridge will continue to extend
over southern parts of the state Friday and Saturday.
Forecast for the rest of Thursday 26 October
Possible afternoon shower or thunderstorm over northern and western Kimberley.
Chance of a thunderstorm with little or no rainfall over the northeast
Gascoyne, adjacent far western South Interior and northern Goldfields. Light
showers in the South West district and adjacent parts. Very hot temperatures
across northern and central parts of the State, warm to hot across the eastern
parts South West Land Division. Windy morning over most of the State, away from
northern Kimberley.
Forecast for Friday 27 October
Possible afternoon shower or thunderstorm over the southwestern Kimberley.
Chance of a thunderstorm with little or no rainfall over the eastern Pilbara,
east Gascoyne, northeast Goldfields, west Interior and west Eucla. Light
showers over southern coastal districts. Very hot temperatures across northern
and central parts of the State. Windy morning over most of the state.
Forecast for Saturday 28 October
Chance of a thunderstorm with little or no rainfall over the inland eastern and
central Pilbara, northeast Gascoyne, north and east Goldfields, western and
southern Interior and inland Eucla. Very hot temperatures across northern and
central parts of the State. Windy morning over central and northeastern parts
of the state.
Forecast for Sunday 29 October
Chance of a thunderstorm with little or no rainfall over the inland eastern and
central Pilbara, northeast Gascoyne, north and east Goldfields, southwest
Interior and inland Eucla. Very hot temperatures across northern and central
parts of the State.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Thursday.
