Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A weak trough lies near the Kimberley and Pilbara coasts and extends down the
Gascoyne coast. A high pressure ridge is strengthening over northern parts of
the State, increasing the east to southeasterly flow and pushing the trough
offshore during the morning period.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A firm high pressure ridge extends through most of the State with the
associated high pressure centre moving across the Southern Ocean to lie south
of the Bight by Monday. A trough near the Gascoyne coast connects to a low
pressure system offshore. The low will drift southward during weekend, passing
west of the South West Capes on Monday. The trough will move east on Tuesday,
crossing the west coast in advance of the next cold front across the western
and southern parts of the State on Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of Sunday 7 May
Showers over most of the South West Land Division, clearing in the afternoon
from the South East Coastal District, South Coastal District, and eastern parts
of the Central Wheat Belt and Great Southern. Chance of thunderstorms over
coastal parts of the Central West. Possible light showers near the Eucla coast.
Windy in the morning over Darling Scarp and adjacent foothills, Central West,
inland Gascoyne, Interior, and over most of northern WA.
Forecast for Monday 8 May
Light showers along the Eucla coast. Isolated showers over the South West,
Lower West and Central West. Thunderstorms possible over the Central West.
Mainly afternoon showers and possible thunderstorms over western parts of the
Gascoyne and western Pilbara. Windy in the morning over much of northern WA and
through the inland Gascoyne, Central West, and across the Darling Scarp.
Forecast for Tuesday 9 May

West, Lower West, and South West, as well as western areas in the Central Wheat
Belt and Great Southern. Showers extending into the southern Gascoyne,

Division later in the day. Windy in the morning throughout the east-central
