Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A broad trough lies over the Kimberley and Pilbara and will be pushed towards
the Pilbara coast as a high pressure ridge strengthens over the central west
coast over the next couple of days. A tropical low over the Timor Sea is moving
west-southwest and is forecast to gradually intensify, likely reaching cyclone
intensity this afternoon. The system is expected to intensify further over the
following days as it moves along a general track parallel to the Kimberley
coast. There is significant risk that this system will become a severe tropical
cyclone and impact the central/east Pilbara or west Kimberley Coast Thursday or
Friday.

Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A high pressure ridge lies over southern WA with a trough extending from the
inland Gascoyne through the South West Land Division towards the southwest just
inland from the west coast. The trough will continue to move east ahead of a
cold front forecast to move over the southwest of the State during the
afternoon. A high pressure ridge will strengthen over the central west coast
this evening and Tuesday with a weak cold front brushing the southwest corner
on Tuesday. Another cold front is forecast to move over the southwest of the
State on Thursday.

Forecast for the rest of Monday 10 April
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley tending to squally thunderstorms
with possible heavy falls and strong winds over the far northern Kimberley,
depending on the movement and development of Tropical Low 23U. Chance of a
shower over the eastern Eucla and southern Interior. Showers developing
southwest of a line Jurien Bay to Narrogin to Albany, extending to southwest of
a line Denham to Merredin to Ravensthorpe during the afternoon and evening.
Possible thunderstorms southwest of Lancelin to Narrogin to Bremer Bay in the
afternoon and evening. Patchy morning fog about the Southwest.

Forecast for Tuesday 11 April
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley tending to squally
thunderstorms with possible heavy falls and strong winds about the northwest
Kimberley coast, depending on the movement and development of Tropical Low 23U.
Showers and thunderstorms over the northeast Pilbara, Interior and east Eucla.
Showers southwest of a line Perth to Katanning to Israelite Bay, contracting to
southwest of a line Perth to Katanning to Albany during the afternoon.

Forecast for Wednesday 12 April
Showers, rain and squally thunderstorms over the northwest coastal Kimberley
with heavy rainfall and strong winds possible, depending on the movement and
development of Tropical Low 23U. Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the
remaining Kimberley, remaining central and east Pilbara, northeast Gascoyne and
Interior. Showers southwest of a line Perth to Albany, contracting to the south
coast between Cape Leeuwin and Walpole in the afternoon.

Forecast for Thursday 13 April
Showers, rain and squally thunderstorms over the west Kimberley and east
Pilbara with heavy rainfall and damaging winds possible, depending on the
movement and development of Tropical Low 23U. Showers and gusty thunderstorms
over the remaining Kimberley, remaining central and east Pilbara, east
Gascoyne, Goldfields, Interior and Eucla. Showers southwest of a line Perth to
Albany, extending to southwest of a line Kalbarri to Hyden to Balladonia by
evening.

The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Monday.
