Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A broad area of low pressure persists across the Pilbara, North Interior and
Kimberley. A weak tropical low off the northwest Kimberley coast is moving
southwest, turning south during the day today to lie off the far east Pilbara
and west Kimberley coasts. It may move close to the coast over the weekend but
will gradually dissipate. It is not expected to become a Tropical Cyclone.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A ridge extending across the south coast is weakening. A trough over the South
West Land Division will move further inland during the day today ahead of a
cold front across the south coast, followed by a firm ridge of high pressure.
The west coast trough will develop again from Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of Friday 27 January
Showers and gusty thunderstorms with possible heavy falls over the Kimberley,
Pilbara, Interior, eastern Gascoyne, Goldfields, eastern South East Coastal and
Eucla. Damaging wind gusts possible with thunderstorms over the South Interior
and eastern Eucla district. Light showers south of a line from Harvey to
Esperance with the slight chance extending as far north as Perth. Windy through
South Interior, eastern Goldfields and Eucla.
Forecast for Saturday 28 January
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, Interior,
northeast Gascoyne and far northern Goldfields.
Forecast for Sunday 29 January
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, Interior, inland
Gascoyne, Central West, Central Wheat Belt and northwest Goldfields. Very hot
through Central West and northwest Central Wheat Belt.
Forecast for Monday 30 January
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, Interior,
Gascoyne, western Goldfields, northern and central parts of the South West Land
Division.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Friday.
