Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A broad area of low pressure persists over the Pilbara and Kimberley.
Ex-Tropical Cyclone Ellie is located over the north Kimberley and is expected
to be slow moving during Saturday before moving in a southwesterly direction on
Sunday and Monday.

Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A high pressure ridge extends over the south of the state with a trough over
inland parts of the South West Land Division. The trough will continue to move
east on Saturday and Sunday as a new ridge of high pressure extends from the
west along the south coast. The remnants of a weak cold front will brush the
western south coast on Saturday.

Forecast for the rest of Saturday 31 December
Rain, showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, with heavy falls and
possible damaging wind gusts. Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the north
and east Pilbara and northern parts of the Interior. Possible light shower
about the western south coast between Walpole and Bremer Bay. Very hot over the
western Pilbara, central and eastern Gascoyne, Goldfields, and adjacent
northeast Central Wheat Belt, northeast South East and far western Eucla
districts.

Forecast for Sunday 1 January
Rain, showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, with heavy falls and
possible damaging wind gusts. Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the central
and east Pilbara and northern parts of the Interior. Becoming windy over
southern and central parts. Very hot over the inland Pilbara, central and
eastern Gascoyne, and northern Goldfields.

Forecast for Monday 2 January
Rain, showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley and adjacent northwest
Interior, with heavy falls possible. Showers and gusty thunderstorms over
remaining northern parts of the Interior, Pilbara, and north Gascoyne. Windy
over southern and central parts. Very hot over the Pilbara, Gascoyne, and
northern parts of the South West Land Division.

Forecast for Tuesday 3 January
Rain, showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, adjacent northwest
Interior, and far northeast Pilbara, with heavy falls possible. Showers and
gusty thunderstorms over remaining northern parts of the Interior, Pilbara, and
north and west Gascoyne. Possible light shower along the south coast. Windy
over southern and central parts. Very hot over the west Pilbara, Gascoyne, and
northern parts of the South West Land Division.
