Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A broad area of low pressure persists over the Pilbara and Kimberley.
Ex-Tropical Cyclone Ellie is slow moving over land in the Northern Territory.
On Tuesday, the system will move towards the WA/NT border and may move into the
southeast Kimberley on Wednesday.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A firm ridge of high pressure remains south of the State with a low pressure
trough extending from the northwest coast to inland South West Land Division. A
ridge of high pressure extends across the South West Land Division from today.
Another trough will develop down the west coast on Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of Monday 26 December
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley with the chance of locally
heavy falls. Showers and chance of gusty thunderstorms over Pilbara, Interior,
northeast Gascoyne, Goldfields, Eucla and far South East Coastal district.
Showers about the remainder of the southern coastal districts. Damaging wind
gusts possible with thunderstorms over the Interior and Eucla. Very hot over
far southwest Kimberley, Goldfields, adjacent South East Coastal, Eucla and
adjacent South Interior.
Forecast for Tuesday 27 December
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, Interior, east
Gascoyne, Goldfields, Eucla, and far South East Coastal district. Chance of
light showers over the southern coastal districts of the South West Land
Division. Windy over southern and central parts. Very hot over parts of the
Pilbara and Interior.
Forecast for Wednesday 28 December
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley and adjacent North Interior,
tending squally with possible heavy falls in the east. Showers and chance of
gusty thunderstorms over the Pilbara, north Gascoyne and northern Interior.
Windy over southern and central parts. Very hot over far northwest Gascoyne and
Pilbara.
Forecast for Thursday 29 December
Rain, showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley and adjacent North
Interior, with possible heavy falls. Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the
Pilbara, north Gascoyne and southern parts of North Interior and northern parts
of South Interior. Windy over central parts. Very hot over west Gascoyne,
Central West and inland parts of Lower West.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Monday.
