Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
Warm across the Kimberley with light winds, although they will be fresh over
the southwest Kimberley this morning. A ridge to the south will maintain a
southeasterly flow over the Interior and Pilbara before easing on Sunday as a
broad trough develops over the area. A trough over the Pilbara and North
Interior will move eastwards on Monday.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A ridge of high pressure continues to build over southern parts of the State. A
trough will develop over the inland Gascoyne and into the Goldfields today as a
weak cold front brushes the southwest coast. The trough moves eastwards on
Monday ahead of another front moving over southern parts of the State. The
ridge then redevelops over central parts of the State, in the wake of the front
on Tuesday.
Forecast for the rest of Saturday 17 September
Showers southwest of a line from Lancelin to Bremer Bay and along the Esperance
coast. Light falls expected. A cold morning across southern inland parts with
early frost possible over the eastern Central Wheat Belt and Great Southern,
inland Southeast Coastal districts and southwest Goldfields. Morning fog
possible over the inland South West Land Division.
Forecast for Sunday 18 September
Mostly light showers over much of the South West Land Division, increasing near
the south west Capes during the evening. Morning fog possible over the inland
South West Land Division.
Forecast for Monday 19 September
Showers throughout the South West Land Division, southern Gascoyne, southern
Goldfields and Eucla, most widespread along the west and south coasts. Chance
of thunderstorms over the Southeast Coastal district, far southern Goldfields
and Eucla. Becoming windy over a large area of the State.
Forecast for Tuesday 20 September
Showers over southwest parts of the South West Land Division and along the
south coast and Eucla. Windy over the north of the State, apart from the
northern Kimberley.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Saturday.
