Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A trough extends from the western Kimberley to a tropical low located offshore
from the Pilbara coast. This low is expected to slowly move east and weaken
today. The trough and associated cloud band will linger over the Kimberley for
the remainder of the week. A new cloud band is expected to develop over
northwest WA on the weekend.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A high pressure ridge extends across southern parts of the State. A cold front
will reach the Southwest Capes later today, brushing past the south coast on
Thursday. Another weak front will brush past the southwest coast on Friday
before a firm ridge of high pressure arrives on the weekend over the South West
Land Division.
Forecast for the rest of Wednesday 1 June
Rain over the Interior. Showers over the Kimberley, eastern Pilbara, far
northeastern Gascoyne, northeast and southern Goldfields, southern parts of the
South West Land Division and Eucla coast. Thunderstorms with possible heavy
falls over the Kimberley and adjacent North Interior.
Forecast for Thursday 2 June
Showers over the Kimberley, eastern Interior, Eucla, far southern Goldfields,
southern parts of the South West Land Division, Eucla coast and west coast
south of Eneabba. Possible thunderstorms over the Kimberley, far northeast
Interior and near the south coast. Possible heavy falls and damaging wind gusts
with thunderstorms over parts of the Kimberley.
Forecast for Friday 3 June
Showers and possible thunderstorms over northeastern Kimberley and far
northeast Interior. Showers over the southern parts of the South West Land
Division and Eucla coast. Light shower possible on the west coast south of
Jurien Bay.
Forecast for Saturday 4 June
Showers and possible thunderstorms over the Kimberley. Showers over the
Pilbara, northern Gascoyne, Interior, southern parts of the South West Land
Division and Eucla coast.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Wednesday.
