Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A weak tropical low that was located over the western Kimberley has moved
offshore and is expected to continue moving west and slowly dissipate over the
weekend. A trough of low pressure will remain over the Kimberley.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A ridge across the south of the State has started to weaken as a high south of
the Bight moves away. A trough located near the west coast of the South West
Land Division will deepen today, before moving inland on Sunday ahead of a cold
front and low pressure system. A vigorous, cooler southwest change associated
with the cold front will sweep through the southwest on Sunday and Monday.
Forecast for the rest of Saturday 5 February
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, northern and western Pilbara and
far northwest North Interior.
Forecast for Sunday 6 February
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, northwest North Interior
and far northern Gascoyne. Rain and showers developing over the South West
District during the morning and extending north and east to a line southwest of
Lancelin to Esperance in the evening. Slight chance of a thunderstorm across
the South West, South Coastal and far southwest of the Great Southern Districts
in the afternoon and evening. Fresh to strong and gusty winds across the South
West Land Division.
Forecast for Monday 7 February
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, Interior, northeast
Gascoyne, eastern Goldfields and eastern Eucla. Showers southwest of a line
Yanchep to Israelite Bay. Slight chance of a thunderstorm near the southwest
and south coasts.
Forecast for Tuesday 8 February
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, Interior, northeast
Gascoyne and northern Goldfields. Light showers about the south coast and
eastern Eucla District.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Saturday.
