Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A trough and embedded low pressure area lie over inland northern WA with
minimal change expected through to Saturday. The trough through the inland
Pilbara will contract towards the southeast on Sunday as a ridge begins to
strengthen into the western part of the region.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A trough extending from the Gascoyne through the Goldfields and into the Eucla
will shift towards the north and east on tonight as a high pressure ridge
strengthens through southern and western WA. A trough will deepen quickly down
the west coast on Saturday then move inland on Sunday, eventually reaching
South Australia on Monday. A stronger ridge will become established through
southern and western parts of the State in the wake of the trough on Sunday and
Monday.
Forecast for the rest of Friday 19 November
Showers and thunderstorms over the Wheat Belt, Goldfields, South Interior and
Eucla. Thunderstorms may be severe in the northern and eastern Goldfields and
South Interior, mainly during the afternoon and early evening. Heavy rainfall
possible in the northern Eucla and southern South Interior. Remaining very hot
through the Kimberley.
Forecast for Saturday 20 November
Showers and thunderstorms possible over the eastern South Interior, with a
chance of showers over the eastern Goldfields, Eucla and mainly southern and
eastern parts of the South East Coastal District. Slight chance of
thunderstorms over the far northern Kimberley, with very hot conditions
persisting over most of the region. Sunny skies through much of the Gascoyne,
Central West and Lower West.
Forecast for Sunday 21 November
Showers and thunderstorms possible through much of the central and eastern
South West Land Division and Goldfields; heavy rainfall and gusty winds
possible. Slight chance of showers associated with a cloud band from the North
West Cape through the northern and eastern Gascoyne. Chance of afternoon
thunderstorms in the northern Kimberley.
Forecast for Monday 22 November
Showers and thunderstorms possible over the southern and eastern Goldfields,
South East Coastal District, Eucla, South Interior, and mainly northern and
eastern parts of the Kimberley. Possible showers extending back through the
Great Southern, South Coastal District, and South West. Chance of showers from
a cloud band over the central and eastern Pilbara and northeast Gascoyne.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Friday.
