Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A broad trough lies over the inland Kimberley and extends to a tropical low
just offshore the Gascoyne coast. The tropical low is expected to move slowly
west to southwest, before taking a more southerly track during Friday and
Saturday.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A tropical low lies just offshore from the Gascoyne coast and is expected to
move slowly west to southwest, before taking a more southerly track roughly
parallel to the west coast over the coming days. A high pressure ridge is
developing to the south of the State, and will likely remain there until the
low moves to the south of the State during Monday.
Forecast for the rest of Friday 5 February
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne and northern
Interior. Rain areas for far northern parts of the South West Land Division.
Squally winds and heavy falls possible over the far western Gascoyne and
adjacent Central West.
Forecast for Saturday 6 February
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara and Gascoyne, tending to
rain areas over the southwest Gascoyne and northern parts of the South West
Land Division. Rain areas extending south through remaining parts of the South
West Land Division during the day, except for the far southeast. Squally winds
and heavy falls possible over the southwest Gascoyne and Central West district.
Forecast for Sunday 7 February
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, eastern Pilbara, northeastern
Gascoyne and Interior, with showers also possible over remaining parts of the
Pilbara and Gascoyne. Windy with rain areas for the South West Land Division.
Possible heavy falls and squally winds for western parts. Late thunderstorms
possible near the south coast.
Forecast for Monday 8 February
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley and Interior, with showers also
possible over parts of the Pilbara, Gascoyne and Goldfields. Windy with rain
areas for southwestern parts of the South West Land Division, with possible
heavy falls. Showers and patchy rain over the remainder of the South West Land
Division.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Friday.
