Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A broad trough lies over the inland Kimberley and extends to a tropical low
inland near the central Pilbara coast. The tropical low is expected to track
westwards, inland from the Pilbara coast, but may move offshore from the
western Pilbara coast during Wednesday and develop into a Tropical Cyclone. It
is then forecast to move southwards during late Thursday and on Friday near the
west coast.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A ridge of high pressure is building south of the state. A trough will deepen
near the west coast over the coming days. A weak front will brush the south
coast during Wednesday before another ridge strengthens to the south of the
state.
Forecast for the rest of Tuesday 2 February
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, northern and western
Interior, Gascoyne, Goldfields and northern parts of the South West Land
Division. Squally winds and heavy falls possible over the western Pilbara and
northwestern Gascoyne.
Forecast for Wednesday 3 February
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, Interior, Gascoyne,
Goldfields and northern parts of the South West Land Division. Squally winds
and heavy falls possible over the western Pilbara and northwestern Gascoyne.
Showers possible along the south coast.
Forecast for Thursday 4 February
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne and northern
Interior. Squally winds and heavy falls possible over the western Pilbara and
northwestern Gascoyne.
Forecast for Friday 5 February
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne, northern parts
of the South West Land Division and northern Interior. Squally winds and heavy
falls possible over the far western Pilbara and over the western Gascoyne.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Tuesday.
