Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A tropical low lies over land in the North Inteior and is bringing moderate to
heavy rainfall and shower and thunderstorm activity through the far east ,
southwest Kimberley and Interior. A second tropical low located well off the
Pilbara coast is moving southeast towards the Pilbara coast and is likely to
cross the coast later Friday to the east of Karratha This low is unlikely to
develop into a tropical cyclone, however expect heavy rainfall, gusty winds for
a period with shower and thunderstorm activity through the central and east
Pilbara region during Thursday and Friday as it approaches and crosses the
Pilbara coast. This low will weaken as it moves southeast through the central
parts of the State Friday night and Saturday.

Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A ridge of high pressure lies to the south of the State. A deep surface trough
lies near the west coast and remain near stationary over the next few days. The
trough will move inland from the west coast on Saturday.

Forecast for the rest of Thursday 10 December
Showers and thunderstorms over most areas apart from the Eucla and southeastern
South West Land Division, the coastal Gascoyne and southern parts of the
Goldfields. Showers tending to rain over the Interior. Squally winds and
moderate to heavy falls possible for the western Kimberley, central and eastern
Pilbara, and central and western parts of the Interior.

Forecast for Friday 11 December
Showers and thunderstorms throughout, apart from the western Gascoyne and far
western Pilbara. Squally winds and moderate to heavy falls possible for the
southwestern Kimberley, central and eastern Pilbara, far northeast Gascoyne,
northern Goldfields and western parts of the Interior.

Forecast for Saturday 12 December
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, eastern Pilbara, inland Gascoyne,
northeast Central West, northern Goldfields and Interior. Showers over
remaining southern districts.

Forecast for Sunday 13 December
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, eastern Pilbara, Interior,
eastern Goldfields and the Eucla. Showers about the SW Capes and along the
south coast west of Hopetoun.

The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm WST Thursday.
