Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A ridge over the southeastern parts of the state will maintain a fresh and gusty east to southeasterly flow over northern parts of the state on Saturday. From late Saturday the remnants of Tropical Cyclone Mangga and associated trough will approach western parts of WA. The trough with an associated cloud band will cross the Pilbara on Sunday with potentially heavy falls and damaging winds over the western Pilbara. The trough and cloud band will reach the western Kimberley and western Interior by Monday evening. A ridge will develop over central parts of the state on Tuesday in the wake of the trough as it lingers over the Kimberley and North Interior. Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A ridge lies to the southeast of the state with a high in the Bight moving east. A cold front combined with a deep tropical system moving down from the north, coupled with multiple low level centres will cross the west coast on Sunday, with strong, squally and potentially damaging northerly winds and a risk of heavy falls over western parts. This system will continue eastwards on Monday with squally winds continuing through southern parts of the state. By Tuesday a ridge has developed over central parts of the state allowing a mainly westerly flow to persist over the southern parts. Mostly sunny conditions over most of the state. Areas of morning frost over the southern Interior and the Eucla.
Forecast for Sunday 24 May
Squally rain areas developing over the South West Land Division, Gascoyne and western Pilbara, extending to the Goldfields and the far western Interior during the afternoon and evening. A chance of thunderstorms over the far western Pilbara and western Gascoyne.
Forecast for Monday 25 May
Rain and showers over the South West Land Division, Gascoyne, western Pilbara, Goldfields and the adjacent Interior extending to the remaining Interior, southwest Kimberley and Eucla during the day. Squally winds possible over the South West Land Division, Goldfields and the Eucla. A chance of thunderstorms through the northern Pilbara and far southwest Kimberley in addition to coastal and adjacent parts between Lancelin and Israelite Bay.
Forecast for Tuesday 26 May
Showers over the South West Land Division, contracting to near the coast during the day. Morning showers over the Goldfields and Eucla. Showers and rain over the North Interior and Kimberley contracting north during the day. A chance of a thunderstorm near the west Kimberley coast.
