Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A surface trough extends from the Pilbara coast to the North Interior and will remain near stationary over the next few days. Severe Tropical Cyclone Ferdinand lies well offshore to the north of Karratha, but is not expected to directly affect the WA mainland. The remnants of Tropical Cyclone Esther is expected to move over the Kimberley from later Thursday and throughout Friday. Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A surface trough will lie near the west coast for the next few days, while a ridge of high pressure builds to the south of the State. The pattern remains near stationary through until Friday, when the trough will start moving east. A high will move south of the state during Sunday.

Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, far northeast Interior and the South West Land Division.
Forecast for Thursday 27 February
Rain and thunderstorms with possible heavy falls developing over the northeast Kimberley. Showers and thunderstorms over the inland Pilbara, inland Gascoyne, the South West Land Division and far southwestern Goldfields.
Forecast for Friday 28 February
Rain and thunderstorms with possible heavy falls over the north Kimberley. Showers and thunderstorms over the inland Pilbara, inland Gascoyne, the South West Land Division and southwestern Goldfields.
Forecast for Saturday 29 February
Rain and thunderstorms with possible heavy falls over the western Kimberley. Showers and thunderstorms over the remaining Kimberley, inland Pilbara, inland Gascoyne, southwest Goldfields and central and eastern parts of the Southwest Land Division.
Forecast for Sunday 1 March
Rain and thunderstorms with possible heavy falls over the western Kimberley. Showers and thunderstorms over the remaining Kimberley, Interior, Pilbara, northeast Gascoyne, eastern Goldfields far eastern parts of the Southwest Land Division and the Eucla.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:45 am WST Thursday.
