Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
Tropical Cyclone Claudia lies offshore from the northwest Kimberley coast and is moving west to southwest. The system is forecast to continue to track west-southwest and remain well north of the Pilbara coast. A broad trough extends from the Pilbara coast to the northern Interior and will drift further inland on Tuesday before deepening over eastern parts of the Interior on Wednesday and Thursday.

Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A surface trough lies inland from the west coast and continues to move eastwards and weaken tonight and Monday as a new ridge of high pressure develops to the south of the state. The trough will redevelop near the west coast by Tuesday and deepen on Wednesday. Another trough will develop through the Interior on Wednesday and extend towards northern parts of the South West Land Division on Thursday.

Forecast for the rest of Sunday 12 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the northern and western Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne, northern Goldfields, Interior and the adjacent Eucla. Showers developing about the south coast and adjacent parts west of Bremer Bay.

Forecast for Monday 13 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne, Interior, northern Goldfields, adjacent Eucla, and far northern parts of the South West Land Division. Showers about the south coast east of Bremer Bay, most likely during the morning.

Forecast for Tuesday 14 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne, Interior, Goldfields and over northern and eastern parts of the South West Land Division.

Forecast for Wednesday 15 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne, northern and western Interior, Goldfields and over northern and eastern parts of the South West Land Division.

Forecast for Thursday 16 January
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, inland Pilbara, inland Gascoyne, northern and western Interior, Goldfields and over northeastern parts of the South West Land Division. Showers over the South Coastal and South East Coastal districts.

The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:45 am WST Monday.
