Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A broad trough lies over the inland Kimberley while a ridge is weakening over
the Pilbara. The trough lingers from the Kimberley into the Interior through
the weekend while a new ridge develops across the Pilbara.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A strong high pressure system over the Bight is moving eastward as its
associated ridging begins to weaken over WA. A weak front will cross the South
West Land Division on Saturday followed by another weak front brushing the
southwest coast later on Sunday. Meanwhile, a stagnant trough is expected to
linger over the eastern part of the State through the next few days.
Forecast for the rest of Thursday 10 September
Showers and thunderstorms over the Interior. Possible showers over the
remaining Eucla, Goldfields and Kimberley with the chance of a thunderstorm
over the far eastern Goldfields, far northern Eucla and inland Kimberley.
Forecast for Friday 11 September
Showers and chance of thunderstorms over the Interior, south and east
Goldfields, Eucla and and southeast Kimberley. Afternoon or early evening
shower possible near the north Kimberley coast. Late evening showers developing
about the South West Capes. Morning fog possible about the east Pilbara and
west Kimberley coasts, Goldfields and southeast Gascoyne.
Forecast for Saturday 12 September
Showers southwest of a line from Geraldton to Ravensthorpe and along the south
coast to Esperance, mostly clearing by evening. Thunderstorms possible about
the coast between Mandurah and Walpole. Showers and the chance of a gusty
thunderstorm over the southern South Interior, southeast Goldfields, and Eucla.
Afternoon showers over the north Kimberley. Morning fog possible about and
inland of the west coast between Dongara and Exmouth.
Forecast for Sunday 13 September
Showers southwest of Perth to Albany. Showers and the chance of a thunderstorm,
mostly afternoon and evening, over the South Interior, northern and eastern
Goldfields, and Eucla. Afternoon shower over the north Kimberley. Morning fog
possible over the South West Land Division and southern Goldfields and western
Eucla.
Forecast for Monday 14 September
Light showers or drizzle over southern districts of the South West Land
Division. Showers and the chance of a thunderstorm over the South Interior,
Eucla, most of the Goldfields, and eastern Gascoyne. Afternoon shower possible
over the north Kimberley. Morning fog possible about inland southern and
western parts of the South West Land Division.
