Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A trough extending from the Kimberley to the Interior is moving north. The
trough will contract to the Kimberley on Monday, as a ridge developing over the
Pilbara extends to the Interior. The trough will extend to the Pilbara later
Tuesday as the ridge weakens and moves east. A cloud band will develop later in
the week across the north and east.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A trough and associated cloud band over the Goldfields, Interior and Eucla is
moving east and will move across the border early Monday. A weak front is
brushing past the southwest corner of the state today. In its wake, a ridge
will extend across the southern half of the state from Sunday night into
Monday. The ridge will move east on Tuesday, ahead of the next cold front
approaching from the west. The cold front will move east across the South West
Land Division on Wednesday and across the Goldfields on Thursday as a cloud
band develops.
Forecast for the rest of Sunday 23 August
Showers with the chance of gusty thunderstorms over the Interior, eastern
Goldfields and eastern Eucla, contracting east in the afternoon and evening.
Chance of a light shower or thunderstorm over the Kimberley in the afternoon,
clearing early evening. Light showers over the South West Land Division,
western Goldfields, western Eucla and southern Gascoyne, mostly easing later in
the afternoon and evening. Windy at times in the afternoon across the far
eastern Interior.
Forecast for Monday 24 August
Light showers or drizzle over the South West Land Division, southern
Goldfields, southern Interior and Eucla contracting to the west and south
coasts in the morning. Chance of a shower or thunderstorm near the eastern
border, clearing early morning. Chance of an afternoon shower about the north
Kimberley coast and over the far east Kimberley. Areas of morning fog over
inland parts of the South West Land Division, far western Kimberley, southwest
Goldfields and far southern Gascoyne. Patchy morning frost over inland southern
parts of the South West Land Division.
Forecast for Tuesday 25 August
Showers developing about the South West Capes, extending to southwest of a line
Lancelin to Bremer Bay by midnight. Chance of an afternoon shower over northern
Kimberley. Areas of morning fog over inland western parts of the South West
Land Division, adjacent southwest Gascoyne and far northern Kimberley. Patchy
morning frost over the Great Southern, Central Wheat Belt, southern Goldfields,
inland parts of South East Coastal, Eucla and adjacent South Interior. Windy in
the morning across northern parts of the Interior and far southern Kimberley.
Forecast for Wednesday 26 August
Showers south of a line Shark Bay to Hopetoun, extending to south of a line
Coral Bay to Israelite Bay by midnight. Chance of a thunderstorm over western
parts of the South West Land Division. Chance of an afternoon shower along the
north and northwest Kimberley coasts. Areas of morning fog over the far
northern Kimberley and western Pilbara. Windy at times across northern
Interior, Gascoyne and northern Goldfields.
Forecast for Thursday 27 August
Showers over northern and western Kimberley, Interior, much of the Gascoyne,
Eucla and South West Land Division. Chance of a thunderstorm over southern WA.
Areas of morning fog over northwest Kimberley. Windy at times across the
Interior and northern Goldfields.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 1:45 am WST Monday.
