Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A trough extends down the Pilbara coast from a broad area of low pressure over
the Kimberley. The trough will move southeast during the weekend as a new ridge
develops over the western Pilbara. Meanwhile, a cloud band extends from the
western Pilbara across the Gascoyne and into the Interior and will contract to
far eastern parts of the Interior by Monday morning.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A weak ridge lies across southern WA. A trough is deepening down the west coast
and will move inland on Saturday. A weak cold front will cross the southwest
corner of the state early on Sunday ahead of another ridge which will extend
across the southern half of the state on Sunday and Monday.
Forecast for the rest of Friday 21 August
Showers and areas of rain across the southern Pilbara, Gascoyne, northern
Goldfields, South Interior, northern parts of Central West and northwestern
Central Wheat Belt districts. Chance of a thunderstorm over the southern
Gascoyne and inland northern Central West.
Forecast for Saturday 22 August
Showers over the southern Pilbara, Gascoyne, Interior and northern and central
parts of the South West Land Division and Goldfields, extending into the
southern Goldfields and eastern parts of the South West Land Division during
the evening. Chance of a thunderstorm over northern parts of the South West
Land Division, adjacent southern Gascoyne, northern Goldfields and central
Interior. Areas of morning fog over southern parts of the South West Land
Division, the southern Eucla and northern Kimberley.
Forecast for Sunday 23 August
Light showers over the South West Land Division, southern Goldfields and
coastal and eastern Gascoyne, contracting to the south coastal districts and
eastern Goldfields by evening. Showers with the chance of gusty thunderstorms
over the Interior and adjacent eastern Goldfields and northern Eucla. Areas of
morning fog over the northern Kimberley.
Forecast for Monday 24 August
Light showers over coastal parts of the South West Land Division, the eastern
Goldfields and Eucla. Showers over the southern and eastern Interior, with the
chance of thunderstorms over the far eastern Interior. Areas of fog and patchy
frost in the morning over inland southern parts of the South West Land
Division. Areas of morning fog over the far northern Kimberley.
Forecast for Tuesday 25 August
Showers developing about the South West Capes, extending to southwest of a line
Jurien Bay to Bremer Bay by midnight. Chance of a shower along the north
Kimberley coast. Possible morning frost over parts of the Great Southern,
Central Wheat Belt and western Goldfields.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 1:45 am WST Saturday.
