Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A weak trough lies over the far north Kimberley with a ridge to the south
bringing southeasterly winds to the Pilbara and west and south Kimberley. The
ridge will weaken and broad trough will return on Monday as a cold front moves
over southern WA. A new ridge develops to the south from Tuesday pushing the
trough into the north Kimberley, with a renewed easterly surge returning to the
remainder of the region.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A broad ridge over central part will weaken as a cold front moves over the
South West Land Division on Monday and Goldfields and southeastern parts on
Tuesday. Another ridge will develop over the south of the state in the wake of
the cold front on Tuesday and Wednesday and dominate the weather pattern until
the end of the week.
Forecast for the rest of Sunday 9 August
Light showers southwest of a line Jurien Bay to Katanning to Balladonia. over
the southern Eucla.
Forecast for Monday 10 August
Showers over the South West Land Division, and extending into the southern and
western Gascoyne, southern and western Goldfields and Eucla during the late
afternoon and evening. Chance of thunderstorms over mush of the South West Land
Division. Possible small hail over southwestern parts of the South West Land
Division during the afternoon and evening. Areas of morning frost through the
eastern Gascoyne, northern Goldfields, far southeast Pilbara and South
Interior. Possible morning fog in the far north Kimberley. Windy along the west
and south coasts.
Forecast for Tuesday 11 August
Light showers or drizzle about the west coast, southern parts of the South West
Land Division, Eucla, southern and eastern Goldfields and southern South
Interior, more frequent about the south coast. Showers contracting to southern
coastal parts east of Esperance by evening. Possible small hail about coastal
parts of the South East Coastal district and over the Eucla. Areas of morning
frost through inland parts of the South West Land Division, Goldfields,
southern Gascoyne. Possible morning fog in the far north Kimberley and western
parts of the South West Land Division.
Forecast for Wednesday 12 August
Light showers about the south coast east of Esperance. Areas of morning frost
through inland parts of the South West Land Division, Goldfields, southern and
eastern Gascoyne, far southeast Pilbara, South Interior, and inland Eucla.
Possible morning fog in the far north Kimberley and inland western parts of the
South West Land Division.
Forecast for Thursday 13 August
Chance of a light shower along the Eucla coast. Areas of morning frost and
possible fog over inland parts of the South West Land Division, Goldfields,
southern Gascoyne, and inland Eucla.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 1:45 am WST Monday.
