Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A ridge over northern Australia maintains cooler east to southeasterly winds
across the northern districts. The ridge is expected to slowly weaken this
week. Meanwhile, a patchy cloud band may bring light showers to western Pilbara
briefly on Monday, before clearing on Tuesday.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A high pressure ridge over southern WA is contracting east, as a cloud band
extends across western and southern WA. A cold front near the southwest coast
will move inland tonight and weaken into a trough before stalling over the
Goldfields and Esperance regions on Tuesday, then dissipate on Wednesday. A new
ridge will develop over southwest WA later Monday and contract east on Thursday
ahead of the next cold front.
Forecast for the rest of Sunday 21 June
Showers south of a line Gingin to Esperance. Chance of a light shower over
remaining parts of the South West Land Division, Gascoyne, far northern
Goldfields and far southwest Pilbara. Chance of a thunderstorm about the
southwest coast.
Forecast for Monday 22 June
Showers south of a line from Gingin to Southern Cross, southern Goldfields and
far western Eucla. Chance of a light shower over the remainder of the South
West Land Division, northern Goldfields, Gascoyne, western Pilbara and central
Interior. Windy in the morning over eastern Pilbara and North Interior.
Forecast for Tuesday 23 June
Showers over southern Goldfields, western Eucla and South East Coastal
district. Chance of morning light shower or drizzle over remaining parts of the
South West Land Division, eastern Gascoyne, northern Goldfields, eastern and
southern Pilbara, western and southern Interior. Morning fog possible over
inland parts of the South West Land Division and southwest Goldfields.
Forecast for Wednesday 24 June
Showers over southern Goldfields, Eucla and South East Coastal district, more
frequent about the Esperance and Eucla coasts, easing in the afternoon. Light
shower or drizzle in the morning over eastern parts of the Central Wheat Belt
and Great Southern districts. Areas of morning fog over inland parts of the
South West Land Division, southern Goldfields, inland Eucla and southern parts
of South Interior.
Forecast for Thursday 25 June
Showers over eastern Eucla, clearing in the morning. Showers developing west of
a line Bunbury to Albany in the late afternoon and evening. Possible morning
fog over inland parts of the South East Coastal district, southern Goldfields,
western Eucla and southern parts of South Interior. Becoming windy about the
southwest coast.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 1:45 am WST Monday.
