Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A cloud band bringing unseasonal showers and cooler temperatures to the
northern districts will linger till Sunday. Meanwhile, moderate to fresh east
to southeast winds will ease from Thursday as a ridge to the south moves away.
A trough located offshore will move closer to the coast Kimberley and east
Pilbara coasts on Thursday and move over land on Friday, before weakening on
Sunday ahead of a new southeast surge.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A ridge over southeast WA is moving east. A weak cold front will move across
the South West Land Division on Thursday, then across the Goldfields and
Interior on Friday. A new ridge develops over southwest WA on Friday,
associated with a high pressure system expected to move across southern WA on
the weekend.
Forecast for the rest of Wednesday 20 May
Showers and patchy light rain over much of the Kimberley, eastern Pilbara and
North Interior. Windy through southern Kimberley, North Interior and eastern
Pilbara, easing late afternoon
Forecast for Thursday 21 May
Showers and patchy rain over the western and northern Kimberley, Pilbara,
northern and central Interior and northeast Gascoyne. Showers southwest of a
line Busselton to Albany, extending to southwest of a line Kalbarri to
Esperance during the afternoon and evening. Isolated thunderstorms possible
over the southwest Kimberley coast, and over southern and southwestern parts of
the South West Land Division. Chance of morning fog over southwestern parts of
the South West Land Division. Windy in the morning through southeast Kimberley
and northeast Interior.
Forecast for Friday 22 May
Showers over the west and south Kimberley, eastern Pilbara, southeast Gascoyne,
Interior, Goldfields, Eucla and South East Coastal district. Isolated
thunderstorms possible over the west Kimberley coast, South Interior, Eucla,
Goldfields, southeast Gascoyne and eastern parts of the South West Land
Division. Chance of a light morning shower or drizzle about the west coast and
southwestern parts of the South West Land Division.
Forecast for Saturday 23 May
Showers and chance of a thunderstorm over much of the Kimberley, Interior, and
eastern Eucla. Light showers or drizzle over South East Coastal, western Eucla
and adjacent Goldfields, mainly in the morning. Chance of morning frost over
inland parts of the South West Land Division and southwest Goldfields. Windy
during the day over northern Gascoyne, eastern Pilbara and central Interior.
Forecast for Sunday 24 May
Light showers over eastern parts of the South East Coastal, Eucla, far southern
Interior and northwest Kimberley coast, mainly in the morning. Chance of
morning fog and frost over inland parts of the South West Land Division and
southern Goldfields. Windy the Pilbara, northern Interior and southern
Kimberley.
