Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A broad area of low pressure persists across the Pilbara and Kimberley while a
weak ridge extends through inland areas. A tropical low, currently located in
the Northern Territory, may approach the northern Kimberley next week.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A ridge of high pressure extends over southern parts of the state while a deep
trough sits near the west coast. The trough is expected to move inland from
Saturday, ahead of a weak cold front moving through the Bight from Sunday.
Another ridge will move into the southwest next week.
Forecast for the rest of Friday 6 March
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, North Interior, northern
and western Gascoyne and the northern Central West district. Moderate to heavy
falls possible in the northeast Kimberley. Very hot through the inland Pilbara,
Gascoyne, northern and central South West Land Division and Goldfields.
Forecast for Saturday 7 March
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, North Interior and Pilbara.
Showers most widespread over the northern Kimberley. Chance of showers and
thunderstorms over the northern and western Gascoyne, Central West and far
northern Lower West and Central Wheat Belt districts. Very hot over the
Pilbara, Gascoyne, Goldfields and most of the South West Land Division, away
from the south coast.
Forecast for Sunday 8 March
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley and adjacent North Interior.
Showers most widespread over the northern Kimberley. Chance of showers and
thunderstorms over northern and western parts of the Pilbara and Gascoyne, as
well as the inland Central West, adjacent Central Wheat Belt Lower West and
northwest Great Southern. Chance of a light shower near the coast between Windy
Harbour and Albany. Very hot over the Pilbara, Gascoyne, Goldfields and most of
the South West Land Division, but tending milder through the South West and
Lower West.
Forecast for Monday 9 March
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley. Chance of showers and
thunderstorms over the north and west Pilbara and western Gascoyne. Chance of
showers over the south coastal districts. Very hot through the inland northern
and eastern South West Land Division, Eucla, Goldfields, inland Gascoyne,
Pilbara and Interior. Tending milder about coastal parts from Bremer Bay to
Israelite Bay. Becoming windy along the west coast during the afternoon.
Forecast for Tuesday 10 March
Showers and thunderstorms over the Kimberley, adjacent North Interior and most
of the Pilbara. Showers over southern parts of the South West Land Division and
Eucla. Very hot through the northeast Eucla, northern and eastern, Goldfields,
inland Gascoyne, Pilbara and Interior. Becoming windy over much of the west and
southern parts of the State.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 1:45 am WST Saturday.
