Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A broad trough lies over the north of the State and will contract closer to the
Pilbara coast on Tuesday. An area of low pressure north of WA may develop into
a tropical low over the coming days.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A ridge lies south of the State with a high pressure centre moving into the
Bight during Tuesday and Wednesday. A west coast trough is developing and will
deepen during Tuesday and Wednesday before moving inland on Thursday.
Forecast for the rest of Monday 19 January
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Pilbara, northwest
Interior, and far northern Gascoyne. Windy at times over the Interior, eastern
Goldfields, and Eucla. Areas of morning smoke haze over the South West Land
Division.
Forecast for Tuesday 20 January
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, northern and western
Pilbara, and the far northern Interior, with possible heavy rainfall in the far
north Kimberley. Very hot over the southern Kimberley, northern Interior,
Pilbara, Gascoyne, and northern and western parts of the South West Land
Division. Windy at times over central parts of the State and the southeast
Pilbara. Increased chance of tropical cyclone activity north of the State.
Areas of morning smoke haze over the South West Land Division.
Forecast for Wednesday 21 January
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, northeastern Pilbara, and
far northern Interior, with possible heavy rainfall over the northern
Kimberley. Possible light showers along the south coast east of Esperance.Very
hot over the southern Kimberley, Pilbara, west Gascoyne, and western parts of
the South West Land Division. Apart from the Kimberley, windy at times over
much of the State. Increased chance of tropical cyclone activity north of the
State.
Forecast for Thursday 22 January
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, much of the Pilbara, and
northern Interior, with possible heavy rainfall over the northern Kimberley.
Possible morning light showers along the south coast, east of Israelite Bay.
Very hot over the southern Kimberley, Pilbara, western Gascoyne, and western
parts of the South West Land Division. Windy at times over the Eucla and
central parts of the State. Increased chance of tropical cyclone activity north
of the State.
Forecast for Friday 23 January
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, much of the Pilbara,
Northern Interior, and inland northern Gascoyne, with possible heavy rainfall
over the Kimberley. Light showers south of a line from about Mandurah to
Esperance. Very hot over the southern Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne, Interior,
Goldfields, Southeast Coastal, and Eucla. Increased chance of tropical cyclone
activity north of the State.
