Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
Severe Tropical Cyclone Fina is moving southwest through the Joseph Bonaparte
Gulf, approaching the northeast Kimberley coast. The very destructive core of
severe tropical cyclone Fina is forecast to cross the coast most likely between
King George River Mouth and Berkeley River Mouth Monday late afternoon or
evening, weakening once over land. A broad trough remains through the Pilbara
and North Interior.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A series of weak troughs will brush past the south coast this week associated
with a couple of low pressure systems moving through the Bight. A high pressure
ridge develops across the west coast and inland southern WA for much of the
week.
Forecast for the rest of Monday 24 November
Very windy, thunderstorms and heavy rain possible over far northern parts of
the Kimberley. Chance of showers and thunderstorms over the remainder of the
Kimberley and northeast Interior with little or no rainfall. Light showers
southwest of a line Lancelin to Katanning to Israelite Bay, contracting to
coastal parts between Mandurah to Albany by evening. Very hot through the
Kimberley and northern Interior. Windy about the south coast.
Forecast for Tuesday 25 November
Windy, thunderstorms and heavy rain possible over far northern parts of the
Kimberley, dependant on movement and intensity of Tropical Cyclone Fina. Chance
of showers and thunderstorms over the remainder of the Kimberley, eastern
Pilbara, and north and east Interior. Light showers over southern and western
parts of the South West Land Division and coastal Eucla, contracting to
southern districts by the afternoon and to coastal parts between Bunbury to
Albany by evening. Very hot through the western and southern Kimberley, and
northern Interior. Windy across the southern coastal districts, easing from the
west in the afternoon.
Forecast for Wednesday 26 November
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the northern Kimberley, possible heavy
falls. Chance of showers and thunderstorms over the remainder Kimberley, north
and central Interior, eastern Pilbara and northeast Gascoyne. Light showers
south of a line Jurien Bay to Bremer Bay and east along the south coast to
Eucla, contracting to southwest pf Perth to Bremer Bay during the afternoon.
Very hot through the southern Kimberley and northern Interior.
Forecast for Thursday 27 November
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley, Interior, far eastern
Pilbara and northeastern Goldfields. Light showers over southern coastal
districts of the South West Land Division, contracting the western south coast
by evening. Very hot through the southern inland Kimberley and northern
Interior.
Forecast for Friday 28 November
Showers and gusty thunderstorms over the Kimberley and Interior. Light showers
possible over southern coastal districts of the South West Land Division,
clearing during the morning.
