Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A broad trough lays across northern WA, retracting into the North Interior and
southwest Kimberley this weekend. A ridge to the south directs east to
southeasterly winds over the Pilbara Thursday morning, with southeasterly winds
returning to the Pilbara during Sunday as a new ridge builds in the south.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A weak cold front continues across the far southeast this afternoon as a ridge
re-establishes over southern WA in its wake. The ridge will slip to the south
coast on Friday and weaken, strengthening again on Saturday. A weak cold front
will then brush the southwest coast late Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of Wednesday 8 October
Light showers over southern coastal districts, contracting to the south coastal
fringe by evening. Chance of a shower over the north Kimberley coast in the
afternoon. Areas of smoke haze over the Kimberley and adjacent North Interior.
Forecast for Thursday 9 October
Light showers southwest of a line Mandurah to Albany, mostly coastal, and along
the Esperance coast, clearing by early afternoon. Chance of a shower about the
north Kimberley coast. Chance of a shower or thunderstorm over the northeastern
South Interior. Possible morning fog over the northwest Kimberley, inland Eucla
and inland central South West Land Division. Areas of morning frost over the
Central Wheat Belt, Great Southern, southwest Goldfields and inland parts of
South East Coastal districts.
Forecast for Friday 10 October
Light morning showers about coastal and adjacent inland parts between Mandurah
and Albany, and along the Esperance coast. Chance of a shower or thunderstorm
over the northern and eastern Kimberley and northeast Interior. Possible
morning fog over the northwest Kimberley, inland parts of the South West Land
Division, far southern Goldfields and western Eucla. Patchy morning frost over
southern parts of the Central Wheat Belt, Great Southern, adjacent South West,
and inland parts of South East Coastal districts.
Forecast for Saturday 11 October
Showers and possible thunderstorms, mostly afternoon and evening, over the
northern and eastern Kimberley, eastern Interior and eastern Eucla. Light
showers possible about the south coast between Walpole and Esperance, clearing
during the afternoon. Possible morning fog over the northwest Kimberley, inland
parts of the South West Land Division, far southern Goldfields and western
Eucla. Patchy morning frost possible over western parts of the Great Southern.
Patchy morning frost over the inland South West and far western Great Southern
districts.
Forecast for Sunday 12 October
Showers and possible thunderstorms, mostly afternoon and evening, over the
northern and eastern Kimberley, eastern Interior. Possible morning shower about
the Esperance coast. Showers developing about the South West Capes and western
south coast to Albany in the evening. Possible morning fog over the northwest
Kimberley and southern coastal districts.
