Weather Situation – Northern Western Australia
A high pressure system in the Bight extends a ridge over central parts of
state, directing a fresh easterly flow over northern WA. The high migrates over
southeastern Australia on Saturday, gradually easing winds over the north. A
trough moves eastwards over the Pilbara on Sunday, followed by another
southeasterly flow on Tuesday as a new ridge moves over the central west coast.
Weather Situation – Southern and Central Western Australia
A ridge extends over central WA from a high pressure centre moving over the
Bight. A cold front moves over southwestern parts during Saturday, with another
more substantial front on Sunday. A ridge builds about the central west coast
from Monday.
Forecast for the rest of Friday 12 September
Light showers developing about the western South West District. Clear skies
throughout much of the State, except partly cloudy in the north Kimberley and
about the Central West, Lower West and South West.
Forecast for Saturday 13 September
Gusty showers over the South West Land Division, heaviest and steadiest with
the cold front extending from the South West in the late morning into the Lower
West, western Great Southern and South Coastal District in the afternoon and
evening. Thunderstorms possible over the western South Coastal and adjacent
parts of the South West and Great Southern districts. Showers extending through
southern and western parts of the Gascoyne and Goldfields from the afternoon,
and into the western Eucla during the evening. Warm from the northwest through
to the southeast of the state. Becoming windy over the Eucla, Goldfields,
southern Gascoyne and eastern South West Land Division.
Forecast for Sunday 14 September
Gusty showers over the South West Land Division, more frequent southwest of a
line from Jurien Bay to Lake Grace. Showers also over the Gascoyne, Goldfields,
Eucla and southwest South Interior, tending light in the far west Pilbara. The
chance of a gusty thunderstorm south and west of a line from Perth to Salmon
Gums to Esperance. Slight chance of a thunderstorm in the Eucla. Very windy
about the coast from Jurien Bay to Esperance with quite fresh and gusty winds
through the remainder of southern and central WA. Possible small hail in the
afternoon and evening south and west of a line from Perth to Bremer Bay.
Forecast for Monday 15 September
Showers possible southwest of Denham to Kalgoorlie and over the eastern South
Interior, most widespread about the lower west coast and south coast to the
west of Israelite Bay. Thunderstorms possible about exposed coastal parts of
the South Coastal district in the morning. Small hail over the lower west coast
and south coast, contracting eastward through the morning to just be over the
Esperance region in the afternoon. Windy over southern coastal districts.
Forecast for Tuesday 16 September
Light showers south and west of a line from Jurien Bay to Bremer Bay and
extending eastward along coastal parts of the Eucla and South East Coastal
District. Showers most likely about coastal parts in the South West. Slight
chance of a shower in the northern South Interior. Patchy frost in the morning
in the South Interior and adjacent southern Goldfields and South East Coastal
District. Possible fog early in the day through the north and west Kimberley.
Fresh and gusty winds in the morning through the Pilbara.
